Help build a school for the young people school forgot.

NEO (Nudge Education Online) is a fully online alternative provision for learners aged 11–18, from Nudge Education — a decade of relational, practitioner-led work with young people across the UK. We open our virtual doors in September 2026, and we are building the team as the school grows.

Who we are

NEO exists for young people who have been unable to access mainstream education — learners experiencing emotionally-based school non-attendance (EBSNA), managing SEMH difficulties, processing the effects of adverse experiences, or whose neurodivergence has never been properly met inside the conventional system. We teach towards Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN, but qualifications are one outcome among several: belonging, self-understanding and agency matter at least as much.

Our pedagogy rests on six Cornerstones — Connection, Movement, Creativity, Reflection, Rest and Nutrition — and one governing idea: connection before curriculum. NEO is operated by Nudge Education Ltd and is pursuing accreditation through the DfE's Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS), the route to DfE recognition for online providers.

Qualified Educators

Qualified, subject-specialist teachers deliver every live lesson — small, deliberately small groups, camera-optional, taught with depth and care towards real qualifications.

Practitioner-Mentors

Every learner has a Practitioner-Mentor: their consistent point of contact, who mentors, co-ordinates with the teaching team, and holds the relationship with family and commissioner. Mentors don't teach — that boundary is deliberate, and it protects both roles.

School leadership

Heads of Department, SEND and safeguarding leadership, and operational roles — building the school's systems from the inside, with a peer group doing the same.

Why work with us

Fully remote, genuinely flexible

Work from anywhere in the UK, with occasional in-person team days. Many roles are part-time or sessional by design, shaped to fit around substantive commitments.

Sustainable by design

Meeting commitments only by working unsustainable hours is treated as a signal to redesign the work — not as a success. We mean this, and we review against it.

Growth that's real

Funded CPD in trauma-informed practice and online pedagogy, reflective supervision, named mentors — and for some roles, funded statutory qualifications such as the NPQ for SENCOs.

A school you help shape

NEO is new. The systems, the curriculum, the culture — the people who join now build them. That is rare, and we treat it as the privilege it is.

Open roles

All roles are UK-remote and employed or engaged by Nudge Education Ltd. Internal opportunities for existing Nudge Education colleagues are advertised separately through our internal channels — the roles below are open to external applicants.

How we recruit

We recruit the way we teach: relationally, transparently, and safely. Because our learners are among the most vulnerable in the country, every stage of this process is built around safer recruitment.

  1. Application — form, not CV. We cannot accept a CV alone. Our Safer Recruitment Application Form captures full work history and the declarations Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2026) requires. Within the form you can add a short personal statement (up to two sides of A4) or a brief video introduction (up to three minutes) — whichever lets you show us who you are.
  2. Shortlisting. Applications are assessed against the person specification by two trained shortlisters. Shortlisted candidates have an online and social media presence check, in line with KCSIE 2026.
  3. Pre-interview task. For teaching roles, a short scenario task returned as a video of up to five minutes — we're looking at how you combine adaptive, relational online teaching with clear checks for understanding, not at polished slides.
  4. Interview. A structured online values and safeguarding interview, scored against published criteria, with time for your questions about us.
  5. Checks and offer. All appointments are conditional on pre-employment checks completed before you start: identity, enhanced DBS (with children's barred list check where applicable), prohibition checks, right to work, verified references including your most recent employer where you've worked with children, qualification verification, overseas checks where relevant, and a self-declaration.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and make decisions on merit against the person specification. If you need reasonable adjustments at any stage — including alternatives to the video elements — tell us and we will make them, no questions asked.

Safeguarding and safer recruitment

NEO is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff, volunteers and contractors to share this commitment. Our recruitment follows the statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026, Part 3, and our own Safer Recruitment Policy.

Posts at NEO are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings which would not be filtered in line with current DBS filtering guidance.

Application data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, retained only as long as necessary and proportionate — see our recruitment privacy notice. Video submissions are stored securely, viewed only by the recruitment panel, and deleted in line with our retention schedule.
